SIT-series
Sonic Integrity Testing (SIT) of foundation piles

Sonic Integrity Testing is a non-destructive method for detecting pile toe, pile defects and pile shaft irregularities upon installed foundations as well as for verifying the pile length.

Profound's SIT equipment is used by hundreds of professionals in the construction and engineering industry, in over 40 countries worldwide. SIT is an effective tool to signal irregularities in prefabricated piles and to observe inclusions and pile defects such as neckings and inclusions upon cast-in-place foundation piles. With a SIT model you can test numerous piles per hour.

Profound is proud to announce the release of the new SIT series this spring

Characteristics

  • Available in three models: SIT, SIT+ and SITpro. Your choice depends on your test frequency and purpose.
  • SIT-systems comply with ASTM Standard D 5882-00
  • Each SIT consists of an acceleration sensor, hammer, cables and electronics for data acquisition and signal processing (such as a field PC). The SIT with accompanying items are easily carried thanks to the robust, weather-resistant case.
  • The SIT system shows up to two signals on the colour screen, in order to verify on the spot that tests have been performed correctly. Data is stored for reporting and further analysis.
  • Accurate testing. Data are digitised before processing, which benefits the accuracy and facilitates any further interpretation.
  • Reliable. Results can be reproduced optimally.
  • Expert dedicated Windows software transforms data into professional pile charts. Reporting and analysis software can be tailored to your test requirements
  • Unique: SIT-WAVE software quantifies defects upon cast-in-place foundations by modelling the pile as well as the soil.
  • Promptly testing the integrity of foundation piles. Testing requires minimum preparation time.
  • Optimal user-friendliness: e.g. showing several force and velocity signals, at the same time.
Full tech specs will be available in the coming months

Operation

Struck the pile head with the special SIT-hammer, while holding the SIT-accelerometer upon the pile head. By striking, one sends a shock wave into the installed pile. The accelerometer receives the reflected signals and sends them to the SIT-system and the expert dedicated software.

Results

In the field, the data is shown as a reflectogram which enables to directly verify the quality of the measurement. The reflectogram can be stored together with accompanying details, such as pile number, date, time, site and amplification factor for further analysis of the data in the office.

As a unique add-on, SIT-WAVE software quantifies defects upon cast-in-place foundations by modelling the pile as well as the soil.
