Digital Inclinometer

The Vertical Digital Inclinometer Pro System is used to measure lateral deflections within a borehole. The system comprises a biaxial probe, cable reel and ultra-rugged Field Tablet supplied with ‘In-Port Pro’ data capture software.

The probe incorporates MEMS technology allowing highly accurate and repeatable readings, transferred via a digital signal. Bluetooth communication enables a cable free data transmitting system with no connectors to corrode or break.

The robust reinforced Kevlar® cable consists of a non slip cable marker system which, when used in conjunction with the cable gate, provides highly accurate and repeatable depth control.

With all these combined features, the Vertical Digital Inclinometer Pro System is a robust and highly accurate system that is light, compact and easy to operate in any site environment.

Casings

EC (Easy Connect) Casing is used in boreholes, embedded in fill
material, cast into concrete or attached to structures.
EC Casing is faster and easier to install than coupled inclinometer
casing, requiring no rivets, tape or glue; simply push together and
the joint is made.
The casing can be extended or joined at any point along its length.
EC Casing is manufactured using ABS extrusion techniques,
resulting in an accurate groove profile with precise keyways
formed at 90° into the internal surface. This allows for the
accurate orientation of inclinometer probes or In-Place
Inclinometer Sensors (IPIs).
EC Casing has been extensively tested to ensure that the
machined joint is strong and resists the ingress of water
and grout.

GEOSmart

GEOSmart is an in-place inclinometer consisting of closely spaced MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Sensors) 0.5 metres apart that are mounted on stainless steel tubing with a single cable running the length of the string which reduces the number of cables protruding from the top of the borehole. GEOSmart is installed in either Schedule 40 or 70mm casing and is used to monitor displacement in geotechnical applications including diaphragm walls, embankments, retaining walls, landslides and potential slope failures. Due to its lightweight robust construction with joints capable of bending up to 90º, GEOSmart is conveniently transported to site and can be installed by one site technician.

Loadcell

Strain Gauge Load Cells are ideally suited for measuring loads in rock bolts, cable anchors and tendons, structural beams, piles, loads between tunnel supports and loads in pull-out tests on trial anchors.

Strain Gauge Load Cells measure compressive and tensile loads in rock bolts, cable anchors and tendons.

They consist of a Stainless Steel cylindrical housing with up to 16 resistance strain gauges in a Wheatstone Bridge configuration. When the cell is subjected to load, the strain gauges change their resistance value; the resulting output signal is directly proportional to the applied load.

The cell is connected to a sheathed cable which is itself connected either directly to a readout unit, or via a switched terminal unit. Load cells can also be wired directly to dataloggers for remote monitoring.

Load cells are manufactured with a centre hole to accommodate rockbolts, tendons or anchor cables, but can be supplied with top and bottom load plates for use as a solid centre cell.

Piezometer

The Kompakt Vibrating Wire Piezometer provides accurate measurement of pore water pressures.

The transducer is designed to handle pressure ranges from 0 to 1000 kPa. It incorporates an over voltage surge arrestor that offers protection from a lightning strike.

Features

  • Small diameter
  • Uses proven Vibrating Wire (VW) technology
  • In built temperature compensation
  • Hermetically sealed
  • No electronic components in sensor module
  • Fitted with thermistors for temperature monitoring

Benefits

  • Accurate, repeatable readings over long cable lengths
  • Fast response to pressure changes
  • Design prevents case stresses from affecting readings
  • Over-voltage surge arrestor protects against electrical damage
  • Connecting cable is strong, screened and flexible
  • The piezometer is fitted with a low air entry stainless steel sintered filter.
  • An integral thermistor for temperature monitoring is included.

Water level meter

Water Level Meters are used to measure the depth of water in standpipes, wells and boreholes.

The meter comprises a Stainless Steel probe fitted to a flexible graduated cable which is wound on to a hand reel containing a transistorised switched circuit, audio (buzzer) and visual (LED light) indicators and a battery

The meter is simple to use and being portable, can be used at many locations. The tape design prevents it from sticking to wet surfaces, such as the lining of a borehole, ensuring accurate measurements.

There are two versions of the Water Level Meter; one with a small diameter probe and one with a diameter standard probe.

The standard probe version is also available with an optional digital temperature indicator.

Tiltmeter

The MEMS Tiltsensor is based on the Soil Instruments In-Place Inclinometer (IPI) sensor and is designed for attaching to structures where a large tilt range is required.

Mounted within the Stainless Steel housing are one or two (uniaxial or biaxial) MEMS sensors that deliver a large measuring range with high sensitivity and relative immunity from the effects of long cable lengths.

The MEMS Tiltsensor is a small discrete device which measures in g (gravity), providing reliable, accurate and stable data.

Each sensor incorporates an on-board microprocessor which performs an automatic temperature compensation of the tilt (g) data.

The sensors are powered and the readings obtained by a datalogger. The data can be directly imported into ‘Argus’ monitoring software, providing a near real time profile of displacement that is constantly updated.
